Success in the solos at The Guild

It was another hugely successful weekend at the Guild for the Manx Youth Band and Manx Concert Brass.

There was a great result in the “Up to Year 6 solo class with a distinction for Todd Crellin 89 marks and a second in class for Georgia Foxton playing On My Own on Eb Horn who received an honors score with 91 marks.

Next up was the “Years 7 and 8 group where we had distinctions for Chloe Lewin 85, Isla Thomas and Sam Moran 86, honors for James Kneen 90 who has also received one of the M.L.Wood scholarships awarded to the most promising players in the instrumental classes at the Guild. Also to obtain honors were Sammy Clague 91 and the winner of the class with a great performance of The Ashgrove on Eb Bass receiving a splendid 92 marks was Tim Payne.

The next class was the “Years 9 and 10” and again there were some excellent performances with distinctions for Katie Garrett and Peter Smith 86 and Harry Henthorn 87. The final class of the solos was the “Adult” class where Mark Lewin 85 and James Aire 86 both received distinctions.

Well done to everyone who took part in the solos and many thanks to Julian and Jenny for their accompanying and also to Julie Brew in the run up for her help on piano while Julian was away.
